How to satisfy a Scottish decrees and ordinary actions

Decrees/orders are shown as either satisfied or unsatisfied on the Register. Satisfied means you have paid in full, unsatisfied means you have not.

If you have fully paid the decree/order more than a calendar month after the date of decree, you can apply to have it shown as satisfied by providing us with proof of payment as listed below. From here, the entry will be updated as ‘satisfied’ on the Register where it will remain for the six-year period from the date of decree.

Step one

Obtain written proof of payment from the pursuer, or the pursuer’s agent, confirming:

  • name of the court
  • case number
  • date of decree
  • amount of decree
  • date that the debt was repaid in full
Step two

Forward the original documents to Registry Trust Limited, 153 – 157 Cleveland Street, London, W1T 6QW, with confirmation of your name and address at the time of the decree.

Cancelling/setting aside a decree or ordinary action

Decrees can only be removed from the Register if they are:

  • recalled by the court
  • entered in error
  • paid in full within one calendar month of the date of decree

If the decree was paid prior to the court date or entered in error you can apply for a recall through the court. Alternatively, the Register can be updated by sending us.

Step one

  • name of the court
  • case number
  • date of decree
  • amount of decree
  • date that the debt was repaid in full or confirming that the decree went ahead in error
Step two

Forward the original documents to Registry Trust Limited, 153 – 157 Cleveland Street, London, W1T 6QW, with confirmation of your name and address at the time of the decree.

Once we receive the necessary information from the relevant court or the appropriate evidence the entry will be removed from the Register.
